Named the “Best BBQ in Central Florida,” Porkie’s Original BBQ celebrates its 14th year in business in 2017 and continues to create a devoted and growing fan base of barbecue lovers. Porkie’s holds the longest running Bike Night in Central Florida – every Thursday night for 10 years.
Founded in 2003, Steve White and his partner, Mike Kirby, travelled all over Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and the Carolina’s searching for the perfect BBQ flavor. Returning home, they formulated a plan and a recipe for the best barbecue in the South. They took the best of what they had seen, tasted and learned, put it all together with what they knew and loved, stirred it up, and Porkie’s was born in Apopka, Florida.
A better BBQ business is born.
Since the opening of the first Porkie’s location, Steve and Mike have worked closely with a carefully selected team of restaurant professionals in the development of their barbecue restaurant concept. They based their business on the principles of providing the customer with the highest quality, fresh ingredients, and fast efficient service, at an affordable price, all in a clean family environment.
As a result, Porkie’s received rave reviews from the start. As the owners of Porkie’s perfected and elaborated their operation, they received the ultimate compliment, customers began inquiring about the possibility of owning and operating a Porkie’s Original BBQ of their own. Steve and Mike then began the development of the Porkie’s Original BBQ Franchise System.
What makes Porkie’s so special?
All Porkie’s sauces are 100% original recipes and made from scratch. Porkie’s award-winning ribs are slow cooked on a 20-foot BBQ pit using oak and hickory woods, giving the ribs a hearty taste and a moist texture. Slow and low is the secret to good barbecue, and that’s the only way Porkie’s does it.

We’re sure you have lots of questions. Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding our franchise:
Do I need to have any prior experience in the franchise industry to own a Porkie’s Original BBQ Franchise?
You don’t need any prior experience in owning your own business or operating a franchise business. We understand that the majority of new franchise owners do not have prior experience owning their own business or restaurant. However, having a passion for business, people and BBQ is strongly recommended.
How long will I be in training and what can I expect to learn?
Our initial training program consists of approximately two weeks of classroom and classroom training at a company owned location in Apopka, Florida in the Orlando area. Your training program will include restaurant administration functions, operations, marketing concepts, customer service training, personnel training and other important aspects of running the day to day business of a Porkie’s Original BBQ.
In addition, our support team will be at your location for at least another 5 to 7 days to work directly with you and your initial staff to ensure that your opening goes smoothly and to provide any additional training.
Do you assist with site selection and restaurant build out?
Yes. Once you have signed a franchise agreement, we will begin working with you on locating and signing a lease for space that will provide you with the opportunity for success. We will then begin working with you, your construction team, equipment suppliers and others to customize the space that you have leased to Porkie’s Original BBQ specifications.
Do you offer financing?
Porkie’s Original BBQ does not finance, however, we will work with you to locate a leasing company and/or third-party lender.
Does Porkie’s Original BBQ offer a multi-unit franchise opportunity?
Absolutely! We understand that you may want the flexibility to open multiple locations and have complete control of your territory. You are provided a protected territory as part of your franchise agreement. We will also provide you a first right of refusal for adjacent territories at the time of your franchise closing.
What are the initial franchise fees and ongoing royalty fees?
The initial franchisee fee is $27,500. You will pay ongoing royalties of 6% and we ask that you spend 1% a month on local advertising.
Where should I open my Porkie’s Original BBQ Franchise?
We will work with you to locate a suitable location for your franchise. There are many factors that can affect the success of a franchised restaurant including, visibility, traffic, demographics, etc. We will help you identify a location within our guidelines, but ultimately, the decision is yours as to where to open.
How long will it take to open my franchise once I have signed the franchise agreement?
Since, more than likely, you will select a space that was previously a restaurant, or has been built as a restaurant space, you should expect to open within three to four months after the signing of your agreement.
Will you help me with my initial marketing strategy and grand opening?
Yes, of course. Your success is our success. We will assist you with all aspects of your opening and we will be in attendance.
Steps to Ownership
1. Get started. Review our franchise kit and the Porkie’s website to learn more about our franchise opportunity.
2. Discuss the opportunity. Once you have submitted your contact information to us and expressed interest in the Porkie’s Original BBQ franchise opportunity, a franchise representative will get in touch with you to discuss the opportunity. Feel free to contact us at any time with questions.
3. Due diligence. Take lots of time to review the information we provide you about our franchise opportunity, research the business, and make sure to ask any questions you might have. It’s important to really understand the opportunity and learn all that you can at one of our Discovery Day events that are regularly held in markets across the region.
Your franchise representative will provide you all the details and present you with a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) once you have done your due diligence.
4. Sign agreement. With your due diligence completed, and the decision to own a Porkie’s Original BBQ franchise made, is time to sign your franchise agreement.
5. Training. Now that you’re a Porkie’s Original BBQ Franchisee, your training will begin and you may start searching for a location (if you haven’t already).
6. Opening. After you complete training and build out of your restaurant, it’s time to open! We’ll be with you all the way providing unheard of support from operations to marketing.
